In addition to being featured in The Knot magazine, Carrie and Jon’s Glen Echo Park wedding was featured on the Recycled Bride blog on Wedding Porn Wednesday in June, 2010. We are so thrilled that this fabulous blog appreciated all of the DIY and creative elements used in this wedding, and felt it was worthy of Wedding Porn Wednesday status!
Karli and Kevin’s classic DC wedding was featured on the exclusive Bridal Bar blog. Bellwether Events is honored to be on a blog that regularly features enormous amounts of wedding eye candy, in addition to the occasional celebrity wedding. Karli and Kevin’s wedding featured a stately Victorian mansion - The Halcyon House - as the backdrop for the ceremony and cocktails, and a modern and minimalist dinner reception in the Halcyon House’s art studio. Bellwether Events was thrilled when United With Love, a source of fresh inspiration for DC area brides, also featured Karli and Kevin's Washington DC wedding.
Erwin and Ed’s wedding was the first wedding wish of the Wish Upon A Wedding Washington DC Chapter. Wish Upon A Wedding is a national nonprofit dedicated to organizing and giving weddings to couples facing terminal illness or extreme personal hardship, regardless of sexual orientation. The national organization founded in January 2010, and Bellwether Events immediately signed up to assist in planning these most special weddings. We were thrilled to be the planner for the chapter’s first wish, Erwin and Ed’s legal (!) Washington DC wedding. Because of the many unique factors surrounding this event, it was covered by The Washington Post, the So You’re Engayged blog and the Rainbow Wedding Network Magazine - where you will see Erwin and Ed on the cover! There is also a wonderful video by humanstory films, which you can view here. Bellwether Events has continued to help the chapter recruit new volunteers for the second and third wedding wishes being granted.
Monica and Dave’s Washington DC wedding has been featured on three fabulous blogs: Elizabeth Anne Designs, Every Last Detail and United With Love. Monica and Dave had a Catholic ceremony at St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill, followed by a Portuguese-infused reception at St. Francis Hall, which is part of the Franciscan Monastery in Northeast DC. The couple placed a huge emphasis on providing an amazing menu for their guests (including a suckling pig) and having a rocking band that would keep the dance floor packed all night. The 28-foot buffet did not disappoint, and neither did the band!
In 2010 the Elizabeth Anne Designs and The Sweetest Occasion blog editors sponsored a contest, to see who could think outside of the box the most, on a (technical) shoestring budget. I joined forces with some friends and put together Puzzles & Pop Art inspired wedding elements with bold colors not often seen in weddings these days. You can see the original features on EAD and TSO, and here you can see the shoot as a part of Every Last Detail’s Wedding Style Dictionary. We designed a cake, a photo booth, a beautiful puzzle piece invitation/reply card set and an escort card display that becomes a guest-DIY guestbook. Kurstin Roe took the amazing photos and set up the Mac photo booth.
The first time I visited Eastern Market, I knew I wanted to bring a bride and groom in their wedding attire and do a photo shoot there, guerrilla style. I pitched the idea to Allison of A Britton Photography and she was immediately on board. She found us an adorable couple, hair/make up and flowers, and then we set out, in the sweltering June heat, to take some pictures. After all was said and done, we have some wonderful photos that The Bride’s Cafe blog and the United With Love blog have both featured!

Full-planning clients Carrie & Jon had a beautiful vintage amusement
park inspired wedding in Glen Echo, Maryland, in April of 2009. The planning
period was only 11 weeks long, but no detail was overlooked. Stephanie
Ascari, of Cleverly Candid Photography, submitted their photos to The
Knot and we were all thrilled when they accepted them, because we all
worked so hard on the memorable event.
Bellwether
Events led a team of five vendors to victory in the first Not
So Big Wedding Challenge, hosted by the Maryland-National Capital
Parks and Planning Commission. A tablescape was designed, a menu was planned
and a total wedding package was completed for $15,000 for 65 guests.
We are thrilled that the Style Me Pretty Little Black Book Blog featured Cassandra and Ricardo's beautiful Virginia wedding at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg. Cassandra wanted a fun and glamorous wedding, which I think was accomplished with the awesome DJ and the vibrant fuschia linens. One of the most unique elements of this wedding were the Wedding Party portraits on a big trampoline! This wedding also had a lot of edible elements - a port tasting, a sundae bar, giant chocolate chunk cookies as a late night treat.
